Tell Your Mama "Hey"

I finished my Blue WaveRunner yesterday!!!
I know it's been a long while since i've quilted and/or posted about a quilt...
Sorry.  But i haven't been home a lot, and when i have been home, i haven't really felt like quilting...
And did i mention that i started a new blog? !
I'm posting a quilt a day, and they're NOT my quilts.
Just quilts that have "It" for me.
Quilts i look at and love *instantly*.

Anyway...
I finished Blue WaveRunner!!!
I just need to take pictures of it, make a label, and decide if i'm going to enter it in the local quilt show...
Plus, i originally made if for someone... but now... i'm thinking about keeping it for myself:
a.)  I didn't tell the friend that i'm making this quilt for him.
b.)  I really, really like it and
c.)   if i give it to him, I will most likely *never* see it again!  (He lives in Guatemala, and i don't think i'll ever be able to go there.)

So i have some thinking to do.

Anyway, it's Mother's Day, so

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers out there!
Call your Mom and tell her you love her!
(Even if she pisses you off sometimes.  We're only human too, you know.)

I already called mine.  She said Happy Mother's Day to you too!

=-)

Oh Well...

I'm off once again. Boyfriend & i are headed to Virginia this morning. My Pop-in-law is in a nursing home, and my Mom-in-law is sick so she's not going to see him. That presents a problem for her 'cause she goes there EVERY day, for MOST of the day, but she doesn't want to get him sick 'cause he has enough crap to deal with now.
My PIL has Parkinsonism (some docs say Parkinsons & some say Parkinsonism. I don't know what the difference is...), and he also has brain atrophy. It means his brain is shrinking. With the Parkinsons, his limbs are getting shaky and stiff, and with the atrophy, he's losing the ability to swallow, getting demensia, etc. He doesn't remember his son & daughters anymore. It's really sad...

Every time i go to that nursing home, though, i just wanna cry. And sometimes when i'm sitting there all day, i just wanna vomit.
I'm sorry to be dumping this on you, but i feel like i have to be "the strong one" for my husband, so i try not to tell him about it. I'm sure that if i'm feeling like this, HE'S feeling it WAAAAY more.

...and then i think how, since my Mom has Alzheimer's... one day she not remember who I am.
And now i may start crying.
It's just terrible that the people you hold so close and dear all your life may have to one day face all this horrible shit! I look at my daughters and tell them that if i ever forget them, i want them to know that IS NOT MY INTENTION!!!

Okay! Now that i've cheered everyone up!
I'm sorry.
I started this simply to let you know that i'll be out of town today, and possibly tomorrow.
Plus, i worked a WEE bit on the Blue WaveRunner yesterday.
AND i worked on the label for the 60s Song wall hanging, and i'm really *thrilled* with it. I'll have to "borrow" a camera to let you see it.
I also got a jelly roll to start on a new baby quilt.
No. Nobody i know is having a baby, but it's for the future. =-)

So that's what's up in my little world.
I hope everything is going Great for YOU! =-)

Workin' On "Stuff"

I know it looks like I follow a LOT of people...

Okay. One hundred IS a lot of people.
But I'm kinda goin' through something over here.
I'm looking at a lot of quilts, handmade journals, and etcetera.
I'm searching through loads of fiber-related blogs.
I'm exploring some things in my head.

I... think I'm going into a phase... An Art phase.
An "exploring in myself" phase.

First I did the Values quilt. I wanted to try that 'cause it looked like a bit of a challenge for me... I didn't know anything about "color values".
I've never had ANY art classes.
...
Sometimes I feel like I NEED art classes.
Sometimes I feel like I have no creativity... That it's *gone*... from lack of using, trying, exploring.
I never really knew how to express myself in "Art". I thought I needed "formal" training to experiment, really.
But now...?

Now I'm starting to think that *I* can try.
I can explore.
I can think for myself.
I can try different "things"... fabric, thread, buttons, beads, etc

Looking at all of these blogs, I have discovered that there are some people who have "it". Lots of people *want* "it", but they don't all have "it".

But I'm discovering
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I HAVE "IT" OR NOT!!!
I can explore to my heart's content and
IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I HAVE "IT"!

I'm gonna try!
I am going to attempt to listen... to myself... to the fabric (even though I think that sounds "hokey" as HELL!)... to nature... to other artists... to EVERYTHING and anything!

I'm currently working on two projects. [GAAASP!!!]
I know! I don't usually do that. I used to try doing that, and never really completed anything.
But I've grown since then.

Anyway...
I'm working on two projects right now... The WaveRunner quilt, and something that's

just
for
me.

I have loved a song since I first heard it as a child in the 'Sixties.
Anyway, I'm working on a small-ish applique piece that's sort-of based on that song. It's coming along nicely, and I'm satisfied with it so far...
Pictures won't be here until I get it finished.
As usual. ;-)

Hope you're having a GREAT day!!!

A post with no pictures.
Boring, huh.
I apologize. But nothing seemed to "fit".
